After losing an election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar departed the nation, the party veteran disclosed. “After the election, what became of my friend Atiku? During the open conversation, Chief George revealed, “He ran to Dubai.” He went on to describe a visit from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who had come to inquire about the state of the party. ‘Bode, what’s going on in your party?’ Baba Obasanjo asked me one day when he visited my home. ‘Sir, our commander is in Dubai,’ I said,” George explained.
The PDP chieftain claims that the former president addressed the issue head-on. “Baba Obasanjo promised to go and retrieve him. He disclosed that Atiku had voiced worries about his safety and that he had traveled to Dubai to urge him to return. He claimed to be terrified of General Buhari. Finally, he arrived. Chief George utilized the event to highlight more general ideas on political accountability and leadership. “You don’t avoid accountability.” You are a leader in politics. You are subject to the laws, all the good things, and all the bad things of the land,” he said firmly.
The seasoned politician went on to define democratic administration. “What is democracy, anyway? the administration of that land’s resources for the populace’s welfare. That’s correct,” he clarified.
