The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has warned against arrogance and misplaced reliance on outward qualities like beauty, drawing from a striking testimony he shared at a Canadian crusade.

Olukoya recalled that during a university evangelism programme many years ago, he was introduced to the school’s “Miss Campus,” celebrated as the most attractive student. When he asked her about her relationship with Christ, she allegedly dismissed him, saying, “I don’t need your Jesus. My beauty can give me whatever I want.” He congratulated her politely but moved on.
Years later, while attending another programme in Michigan, USA, Olukoya was called to pray for a patient in a hospital. To his astonishment, the woman with a disfigured face turned out to be the same beauty queen. She revealed that her jealous boyfriend had attacked her with acid, leaving her permanently scarred and unrecognisable.
Olukoya said the experience was a sobering lesson on the vanity of trusting in physical appearance or worldly possessions. He stressed that true security lies in God alone. He encouraged believers to stop wasting energy on asking why problems happen and instead commit to prayer as their main spiritual weapon. “There are countless battles out there,” he said. “Prayer is the only shield that guarantees survival.”
