According to a report by The Times Of Israel, US President Donald Trump convened a high-level meeting with leaders from across the Arab and Muslim world on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, describing the session as his “most important meeting.” The talks were aimed at advancing efforts to end the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, a conflict Trump said should never have begun.

At the start of the gathering, Trump underscored the urgency of the discussions. “We want to end the war in Gaza. We’re going to end it. Maybe we can end it right now,” he told reporters. Reiterating the significance of the meeting, he added: “This is my most important meeting. But this is the one that’s very important to me because we’re going to end something that should have probably never started.”

The meeting brought together a broad coalition of regional powers, including leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Trump noted that the talks included “all of the big players except for Israel, but that’s going to be next,” referring to his planned meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House the following week.

Trump used the occasion to highlight common ground with participants, pointing to earlier remarks made at the General Assembly by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. In his speech, Subianto stressed that a lasting peace would require safeguarding Israel’s security. Trump praised the comments, suggesting they reflected a constructive approach to resolving the crisis.

By framing the discussions as his top priority, Trump sought to cast himself as a central broker in ending the Gaza conflict. His remarks also signaled a broader strategy of engaging both Arab and Muslim leaders before moving to direct talks with Israel. While no immediate breakthroughs were announced, the gathering underscored Washington’s intent to pursue a diplomatic pathway involving all key stakeholders.
