“I’m not familiar” – Werder Bremen coach Steffen Horst makes surprising admission about Boniface

Werder Bremen coach Steffen Horst has admitted he was taken aback by the quality and adaptability of Victor Boniface since the Nigerian forward joined the club on transfer deadline day. The Super Eagles star arrived at Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen after a summer filled with speculation, including a near move to AC Milan that ultimately fell through due to concerns over his injury history, according to Soccernet.

Boniface has quickly settled into life at his new club, impressing Horst during training sessions with his skill, intelligence, and ability to forge strong connections with his teammates. “He’s well-received here, I like him, he’s very likeable,” Horst said, per Deich Stube.

The Bremen coach went on to highlight Boniface’s technical ability, describing moments in training that left him pleasantly surprised. “You see it again and again when there are moves and movements that I’m not familiar with,” Horst admitted.

Judging by Horst’s comments, Boniface is expected to feature prominently for Bremen as they face Borussia Mönchengladbach. With 22 goals and 11 assists in 42 Bundesliga appearances, the forward is no stranger to the demands of German football, and the expectation is that he will make an immediate impact for his new side.

As he prepares for his debut, Boniface has the chance to not only cement his role at Bremen but also reignite interest from bigger clubs, making this loan spell a pivotal chapter in his career.
