Speaking during a recent appearance on the 234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu, 2Face said both he and Annie did everything they could to make their marriage work
According to Daily Post, the stressed that staying in an unhappy relationship benefits no one.
“I think both of us gave it our best.
And why we’re not together today is not something I’m going to talk about publicly,” he said.
“Me and her have our own understanding.
She’s amazing, it just wasn’t working no more.”
While refusing to disclose the exact reason for the separation, the iconic musician emphasized that people should not force themselves into emotional bondage simply to satisfy societal expectations.
“It’s always good not to torture yourself.
Many people have gone to their graves very sad.
If it’s obvious that things cannot be fixed, no one should feel pressured to stay,” he added.
2Face’s remarks sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some applauding his candidness while others accused him of being a habitual cheat.
One user, @divine_neny, wrote, “He can’t even say or place a finger on what she did.
Annie loved him too much.”
The couple, married for over a decade, recently finalised their divorce.
2Face is now in a new relationship with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
