A tweet from official U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited a firestorm of controversy, prompting a scathing response from Nigerian politician Femi Fani-Kayode. The tweet, posted earlier today, claimed, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. Fani-Kayode, a former Nigerian minister, took to X to denounce the rhetoric, suggesting it reflects a dangerous escalation. “I am sorry Mr. President but respect begets respect. Must you always humiliate and taunt your perceived enemies in this way? This is madness,” he wrote, referencing the account. He further criticized Trump’s alleged past statements, including the idea of turning Gaza into “an American Riviera,” a notion tied to PBS report where Trump proposed redeveloping the region, prompting the Arab Americans for Trump group to rebrand as “Arab Americans for Peace.” Fani-Kayode lamented, “You have lost your mind… a genocidal maniac, child-killer and psychopathic leader like Bibi Netanyahu could manipulate and mislead you into dragging your great country into yet another military conflict.”
