Olisa Metuh Confirms He Recommended Segun Showunmi To Reno Omokri

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, has confirmed Reno Omokri’s claim that he was the one who appointed Segun Showunmi as the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking to newsmen, Metuh claimed that Omokri called him in 2018 to recommend someone for Atiku and he subsequently recommended Showunmi.

Recall that Omokri, who is the former spokesperson for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, had earlier said in an interview that he hired Showunmi and other aides of the former Vice President.

Omokri made the disclosure during a chat on The Honest Bunch podcast, negating a comment made by one of the anchors that he gained more public prominence as a spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on Omokri’s submission, Metuh said there is absolutely no controversy over the recommendation and subsequently, the announcement of Segun as Waziri’s spokesperson.

He said, “It happened in 2018 when I was still in politics. When Reno called me to recommend someone for Atiku, I initially thought of Deji Adeyanju but I remembered that he had left the PDP.

“I had encouraged him to set up an advocacy group to fight Nigeria’s course.

“Then, I remembered Segun, so I recommended Segun to Reno. I told him to call Reno, and he called Reno, and that was it.”

Meanwhile, before concluding the chat, Metuh quizzed, saying, “I don’t think they are (Reno and Segun) still in PDP anymore, and so, there is no controversy about that.”
