In an emotional interview with Trust TV, the mother, Rabi’atu Abdurrahman, recounted the last moments she had with her son before the tragedy.
“My last moment with him was when he came to tell me that he was going to his brother’s house,” she said. “The next thing I heard was, he was shot dead by the police. Now, all I want is justice for my son.”
The incident, which occurred last week, has sparked outrage in the Rigasa community, with residents calling for a thorough investigation into the killing. Eyewitnesses say Kabiru was unarmed and not involved in any criminal activity when the police opened fire.
Local human rights groups have joined the family’s call for accountability, urging authorities to immediately suspend the officers involved and launch an independent probe.
“This is a tragic example of the unchecked use of force by security agencies,” said Ibrahim Musa, a spokesperson for Kaduna Rights Watch. “We cannot allow this to be swept under the rug.”
Kaduna State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. However, sources within the command say an internal investigation may be underway.
Meanwhile, Kabiru’s family prepares for his burial, mourning a life cut short and hoping that their calls for justice will not go unheard.
“I want those responsible to face the law,” Rabi’atu pleaded. “My son was innocent. He didn’t deserve to die like that.”..CONTINUE READING>>
