In addition to PSG’s offensive prowess, Inter Milan’s 5-0 loss to them in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final was also the consequence of several expensive choices made by Inter coach Simone Inzaghi..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Inter was mentally unprepared, outplayed tactically, and lacking a bench answer on the season’s most important night.
Inzaghi’s strict tactical arrangement was the first significant weakness. He continued to play in his typical 3-5-2 formation, which had provided consistency for the duration of the campaign. However, it backfired against a pressing, quick PSG side. The French champions controlled the midfield, took advantage of space between the lines, and had Inter make snap decisions. Inzaghi left his team open and outplayed because he made no tactical adjustments to match PSG’s shape or energy.
The timing and type of substitutions were his second error. Despite being down and overpowered, Inzaghi didn’t make his first substitution until the 69th minute, when he substituted Kristjan Asllani for Hakan Çalhanoğlu, a move that didn’t impact the outcome of the match. The length of time he took to introduce attacking choices was much more worrisome. Both Marko Arnautović and Mehdi Taremi, who have the ability to alter a game, were benched for an extended period of time. PSG had already sealed the deal by the time they entered the game.
His choice to keep struggling players on the field was another bad move. The most dependable attacker for Inter, Lautaro Martínez, had one of his quietest games in a long time. Nevertheless, he remained for the entire ninety minutes, appearing alone in front and posing little threat. Inter’s offense stayed dependable and ineffectual because there was no tactical change or early substitute to change things up.
Additionally, Inter was exposed defensively. The attacking movement of PSG tore through a seemingly sluggish and uncoordinated defense. Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia regularly caught Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni off guard. Due to Inzaghi’s inability to respond or modify the defensive strategy, PSG was able to score goals at will and keep control throughout.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
