Turkish football pundit and TRT Spor commentator, Kaya Çilingiroğlu, has declared that Argentina striker Mauro Icardi is better than Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.
Speaking via Habersarikirmizi, Çilingiroğlu, a popular figure in Turkish football commentary, also claimed that no European club is willing to meet Osimhen’s high salary demands.
Osimhen, who joined the Turkish champions on a season-long loan from Napoli, scored 37 goals in all competitions, helping the club secure both the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup titles.
Despite Osimhen’s impressive numbers, Çilingiroğlu dismissed the idea that the Nigerian is more valuable than Icardi.
“Even if Osimhen doesn’t come, there is no problem,” Çilingiroğlu said. “Mauro Icardi is there. Icardi is better than Osimhen. If I understand football, Osimhen can’t get that kind of money in any other country in Europe.”
He added that Osimhen, 26, is struggling to attract top-tier offers from Europe despite his talent.
“Victor Osimhen has all kinds of talent but no European team wants him,” Çilingiroğlu said.
“Arab teams don’t want him very much either. Galatasaray is offering 25 million Euros, but European teams need to offer 40 million Euros to get this amount. Galatasaray made the best offer anyway.”
Galatasaray are reportedly eager to sign Osimhen permanently and have tabled a lucrative €25 million per year offer to convince the Nigerian to remain in Istanbul.
However, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain. His loan spell at Galatasaray has ended, and he has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, as well as European giants Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
