Eric Chelle To Scout Talent At President Federation Cup Final, Tijani Nears Dukla Prague Move

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will be in the stands when Kwara United and Abakaliki FC lock horns in the final of the President’s Federation Cup scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Eric Chelle, a Malian tactician, who recently named 10 home-based players for the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London, is expected to use the opportunity to scout more local talents ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The CHAN tournament, exclusive to players playing their trade in domestic leagues, will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania this August.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group D alongside Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.

Meanwhile, in the transfer market, former Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani is on the verge of completing a move to Czech First Division side Dukla Prague.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who arrived in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, is scheduled to undergo medicals on Thursday.

Tijani joined Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg in 2020 but struggled to make an impact, managing just three league appearances.

He was loaned out to four different clubs during his time at Salzburg and also battled a long-term injury that hampered his development.

Tijani notably captained Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil and is looking to reignite his career with this new chapter in the Czech Republic.
