El-kanemi Warriors Appoint Kabiru Dogo As New Coach, Kano Pillars Retain Ahmed Musa

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, El-kanemi Warriors, have named coach Kabiru Dogo as their new technical adviser.

El-kanemi Warriors, who won the 2024 President Federation Cup and gained promotion to the NPFL in the same year, unveiled Kabiru Dogo earlier today, June 29.

Dogo is a replacement for Aliyu Zubairu, who led the promotion of the Maiduguri side to the NPFL. Zubairu exited the side this month due to the expiration of his contract.

Kabiru Dogo, 55, is not a new face in Nigerian football. He first hit the limelight when he was the coach of Kwara United and then ABS FC in Ilorin.

Before taking up the technical adviser role at El-kanemi Warriors, Dogo lost his job in the middle of the just-concluded 2024-2025 season at Nasarawa United.

His journey with El-kanemi Warriors will officially start in the coming week as the squad reassemble for pre-season training.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles players Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi are among the footballers Kano Pillars have retained ahead of the 2025-2026 NPFL season.

Other top players retained ahead of the coming campaign include the team’s captain Rabiu Ali, Muttaka Musa, Abdullahi Abubakar, Fahad Usman, Dawud Ibrahim, Abdullahi Ali, Yusuf Bala Maigoro, Naziru Auwalu Ibrahim, Aminu Adam Sani, Habibu Yakubu, Mustapha Umar, and Ibrahim Sani Halliru.

Others are goalkeeper Jerry Alex, Umar Sani Yakasai, Auwal Ali Malam, Imran Ahmad, Sudais Ali Baba, Zaharadeen Bello, Shehu Abdullahi, Yusuf Abdullahi, Bright Emmanuel, Ibrahim Inuwa, and Mubarak Lawal.

Kano Pillars have also promoted the following youth players to the senior team, Jibrin Yusuf, Aminu Muhammed, Mustapha Muhammed, and Muhammad Usman.
