Mustafa Responds to Criticism of the Lagos-Calabar Highway You People Saw Buhari Constructing the Second Niger Bridge..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The first finished segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway was put into service by President Bola Tinubu, according to The Punch. This marks a major milestone in the ambitious 750-kilometer project, which aims to improve connectivity and spur economic growth along Nigeria’s coastline. The recently opened Section 1 is a 30-kilometer, six-lane dual highway that runs from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eleko Village on Lagos’ Lekki Peninsula.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to be patient as the project moves forward during the commissioning event on Saturday in Lagos, where he expressed pride and fulfillment. While acknowledging the high expectations in the face of persistent economic difficulties, he gave his word that progress is being made in areas like lower inflation and less corruption.
Ahmed Tijani Mustafa, an advisor to Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, responded to criticism regarding the commissioning of barely 30 kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar expressway by drawing a comparison to earlier skepticism regarding infrastructure projects. “You people saw Buhari building the second Niger bridge, and you said it was non-existent,” he said on his official X account. You said that another president initiated it and provided all the funding when the evidence became overwhelming. Why is PBAT commissioning 30 kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar coastal route, you ask?
Mustafa’s comments draw attention to the ongoing political disagreements and incredulity around significant infrastructural improvements in Nigeria. In order to connect Lagos to Cross River State, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, which formally started in March 2024 and is being built in stages by Hitech Construction Company, would eventually traverse through multiple coastal states. Additionally, the government has so far given approximately N15 billion in compensation to residents who were displaced by the project.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
