BREAKING NEWS: You Didn’t Help Him, But He swept Rivers. A State You Couldn’t Provide—Amaechi To Olabamiji

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, has come under heavy fire for revealing in public that he did not back President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

At a public event, Rotimi Amaechi, who has recently criticized the current administration, disclosed that he did not vote for Tinubu due to doubts about his ability to lead.

Olabamiji Enitan Jowosimi, Special Assistant, New Media, responded sharply to the revelation, which rekindled discussion about Amaechi’s political clout in Rivers State, and addressed Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. Olabamiji questioned Amaechi’s relevancy in the current political climate and contested his political legacy in a forcefully worded remark that was uploaded on his official X (previously Twitter) page.

“You refused to back him, but he won Rivers State.” Olabamiji added, “A state you couldn’t deliver either as a sitting Governor or as DG of the campaign,” emphasizing the irony that Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) won a resounding victory in Rivers State during the presidential election in spite of Amaechi’s opposition.

Given the state’s history of fierce election fighting and Amaechi’s prior prominence as both governor and a pivotal campaign figure, many people viewed the APC’s victory in Rivers as a major political accomplishment. In his statement, Olabamiji went further, accusing Amaechi of political opportunism and implying that his new accusations are a result of his own disappointment over his unsuccessful bid for president.

“Your pride couldn’t handle the bitter pill of a primary loss.” One tired tactic used by political opportunists is presidential anointing. Your ambition dwindled when the oil didn’t drop. Malice became your message and defeat your fate,” he wrote. “While you weep, Jagaban leads – with grace, maturity, statesmanship, and the mandate of millions,” the aide said, hinting at Tinubu’s tenacity. He soars while you sink, despite your claims that you have denied him your support. Ultimately, Olabamiji’s comments reveal a growing belief within the ruling party that Amaechi’s power has diminished, particularly in the wake of the APC’s victory in Rivers without his support.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
