In a recent interview, the 48-year-old clarified how his typical romantic roles in films influenced his perspective on commitment and love.
Diobi, who is well-known for his love parts in a number of Nollywood classics, said that it became challenging to distinguish between acting and genuine emotional connection. He went on to say that although he made deliberate choices to settle down, it hasn’t been successful for him. The actor also admitted that his propensity to view relationships as if they were scenes from a movie made it more difficult for him to meet the perfect person. This has even given rise to rumors that he may be leading a double life or secretly married over time.
He responded to such rumors by saying, “I just smile,” opting to live his life according to his own terms. All of my knowledge of love was derived from a script. Growing up as a young man, I never knew true love. I didn’t have the time to embark on that adventure or build my own network of connections. Before I found fame, I found love. I was in love at the time, but business took over. “I got too occupied. I evolved. She couldn’t comprehend how I was changing; she was too good and too real.
“The industry consumed me completely. He wrote, “I would have married her back then if I had known that the world would be what it is today.” According to the actor, marriage is a personal journey that has to be motivated by sincere love and understanding rather than social media trends or peer pressure.
