The wristwatch that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wore during the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States, or ECOWAS, has sparked a number of responses. Several dignitaries attended the ceremony in Lagos state, including former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, President of Togo Jean-Lucien Savi de Tove, President of Liberia Joseph Nyuma, President of the ECOWAS Commission Umar Alieu Touray, and many others. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was seen signing a document in the pictures that went viral. However, Bayo Onanuga claimed that the commemorative treaty was signed at the event after releasing the photos.

On his official X handle, Bayo Onanuga wrote the following: “The commemorative treaty was signed on Wednesday at the Conference Chamber of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, where the journey began in 1975” .
