Dr. Usman Bugaje, a former member of the House of Representatives, has sparked a heated discussion by casting doubt on the achievements of previous Nigerian presidents from both the Northern and Southern regions.. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Speaking on Arise TV, Dr. Usman bemoaned the current political discourse’s heavy emphasis on prospective presidential candidates’ geographic origins, which obscures important developmental challenges.
He maintained that politicians’ obsession with North versus South candidates is a result of their inability to come up with meaningful ideas, according to an article in The Nigerian Tribune. “Look, this conversation about North and South is coming from the emptiness of our politics,” Dr. Usman said strongly, challenging the idea that advancement is guaranteed by a leader’s place of origin. There is nothing the politicians can provide. Let them present their thoughts if they had.
“I will vote for a president regardless of his background. He comes up with the notion to fix Nigeria after becoming a Nigerian. Even in the twenty-first century, we continue to discuss North versus South. In any event, we have tried both the presidents from the North and the South. What did they do? He said, “I haven’t seen anything.”
Dr. Usman advised Nigerians and the media to pay greater attention to the more important subject of what these individuals and their parties truly stand for and plan to do for the country, rather than the movement of political leaders between parties. He emphasized that Nigeria’s pressing issues—economic stagnation, environmental degradation, and pervasive insecurity—call for creative ideas and practical answers, not merely a president from a specific region.
Dr. Usman urged a fundamental reassessment of Nigeria’s democratic process, pointing to the country’s frightening rate of population growth as well as rising rates of poverty, hunger, and illness. Regardless of their ethnicity or geographic location, he underlined the necessity for voters to hold elected officials responsible by calling for specific agendas and concrete strategies for the advancement of the country. He claimed that the emphasis should be on the recommendations’ actual content and their potential to enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
