When Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, stated that the Nigerian economy was in better shape seven decades ago than it is currently under President Tinubu’s leadership, it created a commotion. You may remember that Akinwunmi Adesina had attacked the current administration in his remarks for being insensitive to the suffering of the populace. Nigerians were in worse shape than they were after achieving independence in 1960, he had said.
In response, Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special assistant on information and strategy, denied his allegations and compared his remarks to those of an irate politician. According to his remarks, which Sahara Reporters made public on their official X handle, the special adviser noted that, like Peter Obi, the Banker did not conduct adequate study before making such claims. “In his own words” “Adesina didn’t do his research before making his unverifiable statement and spoke like a politician, emulating Peter Obi.” Bayo Onanuga stated.
